University of Kassel

The Department of Organic Farming and Cropping at the University of Kassel, was founded in 1981. The department is dedicated to research on organic arable cropping systems with a focus on field crops, mixed cropping, nutrient management and soil tillage. It has set up a mid-term experiment on reduced soil tillage in 2007.

Prof. Dr. Jürgen Heß is head of the department and scientific manager of the experimental farm Frankenhausen. He has pronounced experience and scientific expertise in the field of grain legume crop species from national and international projects, reduced tillage systems, N-rhizodeposition and the integration of nature conservation into organic farming.

Meike Grosse has been working at the department since 2011. She is responsible for the implementation and the analysis of the field experiments for the TILMAN ORG part of University of Kassel.
